HISTORY

Nestled amongst 16 acres of breathtaking Aberdeenshire countryside, The Cambus O’May Hotel is a Ballater landmark. The property was originally built as a hunting lodge in 1874 by Sir William Cunliffee Brooks as a present to his daughter Amy, wife to Charles Gordon, 11th Marquis of Huntly.

This well-preserved country house has been carefully modernised to ensure original references have been maintained throughout.

Along with an array of period features and furniture, the hotel houses a guestbook that dates back to 1935. The property once offered a woodland outdoor swimming pool (as seen in the gallery below). Its ethereal remains can still be found on the grounds today.

Just a short drive to Balmoral castle, the area has been the Scottish home of the royal family since 1852.
